Zyggie is a motion capture platform design within the Labex Cominlabs Bowi project. The system is Wireless Body Area Network based on Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to target, for example, medicine domain (Musculoskeletal disorder, functional rehabilitation, …) or sport tracking (Cycling, horse riders, …).
The system is composed by one or several nodes communicating by Bluetooth® to an Android phone or tablet. A particular care was taken to get a small, light weight and low power system to address a wide range of applications. In order to achieve this, we include state-of-the-art ICs like IMU with embedded low power data fusion (Quaternion) or a small footprint ceramic antenna. Moreover, a time synchronization protocol was added to share a common timestamping between on-body nodes with microsecond accuracy.
Node’s hardware is characterized by the following features:
- Bluetooth® microcontroller
- Bosch BNO080 IMU
- 16Mbits flash memory
- Energy consumption measurement IC
- Type-C USB
- LiPo battery
On tablet side, a complete user interface is developed to allow node association, calibration and data visualization.
